Marvin is a wood mechanic in the Making!

2nd year apprenticeship wood mechanic

Do you already know Marvin? Marvin is currently in his second year of apprenticeship and is working hard in our production department. In the picture below, you can see him working on the sliding table saw with a very large saw blade. He uses it to bring wooden parts made of solid oak to size, thus ensuring efficient further processing by his colleagues in the CNC area. There, the wooden parts are then given their subsequent shape: Distinctively profiled table legs of a dining table.Of course, Marvin’s work includes a final check. As you know, a wood mechanic is meticulous!

Apprenticeship as a wood mechanic

We built a jig so that Marvin can hold the workpiece firmly. By the way, building such jigs is also one of the tasks of a wood mechanic. But watch out – you have to be careful with such large tools! It’s a good thing that our apprentices learn important basics in the first year of their apprenticeship in full-time classes at the vocational school. Of course, this also includes occupational safety.

As a true Bernauer, Marvin has a penchant for wood, is involved in the mountain rescue team and is also a referee in soccer and a ski instructor at the Bernau Ski School. A super guy.

It’s great that you are with us Marvin! It is a great pleasure for us to answer all your questions and to accompany you into your professional life. Don’t hesitate to ask your instructor Christoph. As an old master carpenter, he can pass on a lot of experience and knowledge to you.
