Made for the outdoors: Larch slats for outdoor seating

For the new Pater Schall Centre at Kolleg St. Blasien, we manufactured and finished larch slats for the outdoor seating. And they need to withstand quite a lot: The modern benches are located outdoors and directly exposed to the elements.

So one thing was clear from the start: The timber, construction and finish all had to work perfectly together. Even before production began, we advised our customer on choosing the right solution.

The right timber for demanding conditions

We chose locally sourced larch. Its naturally high resin content makes it particularly durable and well suited for outdoor use.

For the seating slats, we selected knot-free timber. This creates a clean, high-quality appearance while providing ideal conditions for further processing and coating.

Precisely manufactured. Made to fit.

Detailed production drawings provided the exact specifications. Based on these, we manufactured each individual slat with precision and prepared it for the subsequent finishing process.

The result fits perfectly into the modern design by Freiburg-based architects Spiecker Sautter Lauer.

Triple protection for the outdoors

Good timber alone is not enough when it is directly exposed to the elements. That is why we applied a three-coat finish specifically designed for larch.

It protects the surface against the effects of weather and helps keep the seating slats looking good and performing well for years to come.

A project that shows pretty well what we do best: selecting the right timber, manufacturing with precision and applying a high-quality finish. All from one source – and made for the outdoors.
